THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN E OVERNIGHT SERUM-IN-OIL: BEAUTY REVIEW

For month's I have been reading about this 'miracle' night serum from The Body Shop which recharges and freshens your skin and allows you to wake up with a gorgeous feeling and looking face. What complete utter rubbish, right? Well actually, no...

Honestly, I was a bit sceptical, not because I thought it was going to do harm to my skin, but just because I didn't think it would be as good as there are making it out to be - just how could one little pot of oil transform your skin in 8 hours? And would it just be a touchingly-good feeling for just the first hour or two when you wake up, and then for the rest of the day your skin is as dry as the dessert?

I bought this on my birthday when I had a Body Shop beauty haul and I'm not going to lie, but I have fell in love. I came in from my night out on my birthday and applied the 'miracle' serum and immediately I could feel my skin becoming softer - the dry patches were fading and the tight skin was softening. The next morning, I was definitely aware that I had put something on my face the night before, but for all the right reasons. Even without touching my face I could feel how softer and smooth it was (especially my forehead where I have a bit of dry skin). Looking in the mirror, my skin tone was slightly more even and (this is going to sound very silly) it looked like I had a bit of a glow - I definitely looked good for a girl with no makeup on and a huge hangover.

6 weeks later and I am still completely smitten. There was one week that I didn't apply this every night (i went away and forgot it! Tut tut) and even though my skin was getting dry, I could still feel the effect of the Vitamin Overnight Serum-In-Oil.

On the bottle it claims to "replenish & recharge moisture" and The Body Shop brag on it's website that it makes "skin look fresher, rested and more radiant" and in my personal experience it ticks all the boxes.

Sensitive skin.
Now, my skin is pretty sensitive and I haven't realise how much it was until recently, and I regularly have red blotches appear on my face - it's stress related, and I'm very sceptical when trying new facial products. The oil is quite 'runny' and the smell, even though it's refreshing, can be strong at times. However the actually serum/oil is as harmless as anything, if anything it has soothed my dry and patchy skin - and what's less stressful then pampering yourself?!

How I use it.
The serum comes with a pipette (I love that word) which makes it so much easier to apply - spilling a bottle of oil all over myself just before I'm about to go to bed? No thank you!! I squeeze the pipette until it about 3 quarters full and then release the serum into my hands, I rub my hands together and then apply all over my face and neck (never forgot the neck!). I then use my finger tips to massage in the places that are dry and need it the most - for me, it's my forehead and cheeks. A couple of minutes later, I apply the tiniest bit of my moisturiser as the oil is quite heavy.

Until recently I didn't look after my skin as well as I should be but now, I am taking my makeup off every night, moisturising every night and morning (even if I'm not wearing makeup), using overnight serum and also using primer (more on that later) and I'll tell you one thing, I can definitely feel the benefits of looking after my skin, and not only can I feel it, I can see it! Buying all of these skincare products can be expensive but trust me, if you were like how I used to be, it is completely worth it. My tip is to not splurge out on everything at the same time, limit yourself to one or two things a week/month depending when you get paid/get money. This month get a good moisturiser and a serum (preferably this one), and next month treatment your self to a exfoliator and a primer.
