BEAUTY TIPS TO SURVIVE THE SUMMER
Summer. Isn't it a lovely time? The sun is shining, the shorts are on and it's finally okay to eat ice cream at all times of the day. But it also has its downsides - being sweaty and uncomfortable isn't as gorgeous as we all hoped. I always look like a right mess in the summer because I'm sometimes just to hot to care, but now is time for a change. I will look hot in the heat, I will damn it! So I have put together a few tips and tricks to keeps your body cool and collected as well as b-e-a-uitufl. Now I know I'm not beauty expert but these tips are things that recently have been tried and tested by myself and actually work! Give them a try.
Tie up hair when sleeping
Now, I have heard different opinions about this in the past. Some say that by having your hair tied back for bed can make hair break and tossing and turning can cause hair to be pulled out. But on the other hand however, tying up hair gives your face space to breathe and recover itself from the day and create its natural oils without disturbance. (If you're worried about hair being pulled out, check out Invisibobbles if you haven't already. They are tight bobbles, but also don't grip too harshly on your hair meaning less chance of the hair being pulled out).
Also, by sleeping with your hair up, as well as letting the skin on your face repair on its own, you will be a lot cooler and comfortable throughout the night. Meaning a better nights sleep as well as a less sweaty one!
Settle for juice drinks instead of fizzy drinks in the day
If you're going on holiday - or just settling for a week in your back garden - drinking juice and water throughout the day will keep your body refreshed and hydrated, and giving you more energy throughout the day. Yes, I know Coke is 'meant' to give you more energy but endless amounts of it results in the majority of us feeling groggy and unwell. Drinking water and juice in the day will also make you feel less guilty when your drinking at night. Bonus.
Leave the heavy makeup off, but pile the SPF on
It's no secret that SPF is a big summer must for everyone and when sun bathing, should be applied every 2 hours all over the body - especially the face, as this is the part of the body with the most sun coverage. In heat, take the makeup off! It cloggs, it dries and it just doesn't look very nice mixed with sweat (eww I know, but it has to be said). Applying it in the evenings when it's cooler is fine, but in the day is just a big no no!
Tinted BB creams are your new friends
Foundation, powder and concealer might be a big fat NO! but BB creams are a lot thinner and kinder to the skin in the sun. Majority of them has SPF 15 (at least) in them as well and it means that you can take your makeup off but also hide any blemishes!
Forget the mousse
Personally, the reason why I look such as mess in the summer is my hair. The chlorine isn't my hair best friend. A lot of the time I end up shoving it up but my 'baby hairs' always stick out anyway. What I'm trying to say is that hair (especially if it's long like mine) is a nuisance as it is without it being twice the size. Put down the mousse. Put down the volume booster shampoo. In the summer all we want is thinner hair so purchase some de-frizz spray instead.
Use a lighter body moisturiser
Don't get me wrong, I love body butters but in the heat they are just too thick for my liking so instead opt for a thinner body moisturiser that you don't have to cake on. It will keep your cooler and also more comfortable and less sticky
